The iconic Mirage on the Las Vegas Strip is undergoing a dramatic transformation. Rising in its place, the Hard Rock Guitar Hotel Las Vegas is beginning to take form — a 660-foot-tall structure modeled after an electric guitar, symbolizing a new era for the site once famous for its erupting volcano. This massive redevelopment marks a bold step in the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s rebranding of the Mirage into a global entertainment destination.
A New Era: The Guitar Hotel Redefines the Mirage Legacy
Construction is progressing rapidly, with crews recently seen installing glass panels on the guitar-shaped tower. The Hard Rock Guitar Hotel is expected to open by early Q4 2027 and will feature:
3,675 luxury hotel rooms
175,000 square feet of gaming space
Multiple pools and two luxury spas
World-class restaurants, lounges, and retail outlets
Cutting-edge live entertainment venues
The Mirage officially closed its doors on July 17, 2024, following Hard Rock’s acquisition of operations in 2022. Construction began immediately after the closure, ushering in a full-scale renovation and expansion of the former property’s hotel rooms, casino, and convention spaces.
Hard Rock’s Bold $4.3 Billion Investment
The Seminole Tribe of Florida — owner of the Hard Rock brand — has increased its total investment by roughly 7%, raising the project’s cost to $4.3 billion. The additional funds are being used to enhance entertainment amenities, including expanded pool areas, redesigned gaming floors, and improved guest circulation throughout the resort.
While some changes, like the removal of the pedestrian bridge to Harrah’s, prompted rumors of cost-cutting, a Hard Rock spokesperson clarified that these were “strategic design refinements” aimed at optimizing guest experience. The northern bridge to the Venetian remains part of the final blueprint.
Preserving Mirage Memories and Expanding Hard Rock’s Presence
Fans of the Mirage had the opportunity to own a piece of its history earlier this year when more than 300 artworks, sculptures, and memorabilia from the legendary resort were auctioned off.
This Las Vegas project will be the second Hard Rock casino in the region, following the original Hard Rock Hotel (1995–2020). With the new Guitar Hotel, Hard Rock aims to reestablish its brand at the heart of the Strip, combining music-themed design with luxury resort experiences.
The Seminole Tribe’s Growing Global Footprint
The timing aligns with the Seminole Tribe’s booming success in Florida, where properties like Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa have reported over $2 billion in jackpot payouts for the fourth consecutive year. The tribe hopes to channel that momentum into Las Vegas, positioning the upcoming Guitar Hotel as the next landmark attraction on the Strip.
